How the privacy policy generator works

  1. Start from a template or a description. Pick the privacy policy template, or describe your product in a sentence and get a first draft.
  2. Make it match what you actually do. Edit the sections in the editor: the data you collect, the tools you use, who you share data with and how long you keep it.
  3. Publish and share the link. Your policy gets a permanent public URL. Paste it into your website footer, App Store Connect, the Google Play Console or anywhere else that asks for it.

What your privacy policy will include

  • Who you are and how to contact you about privacy
  • The personal information you collect, directly and automatically
  • How and why you use it, and the legal bases for users in Europe
  • Who you share it with, such as hosting, analytics and payment providers
  • Cookies and tracking technologies
  • How long you keep data and how you protect it
  • International data transfers
  • Users' rights and how to exercise them
  • Children's privacy and how you handle changes to the policy

Canadian privacy laws to consider

PIPEDA

The Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act applies to private-sector organizations that collect, use or disclose personal information in the course of commercial activities, except where a substantially similar provincial law applies. Its principles include openness: you must make information about your privacy policies and practices readily available. You also need meaningful consent, which means people must understand what they are agreeing to, so plain language matters.

Quebec's Law 25

If you collect personal information from people in Quebec, Law 25 requires you to publish your confidentiality policy in clear and simple terms on your website. You also have to name a person in charge of the protection of personal information, which by default is the person with the highest authority in the business, and publish their title and contact details.

Provincial laws

Alberta and British Columbia have their own private-sector privacy laws, called PIPA, which apply to organizations operating within those provinces.

Anti-spam rules

If you send marketing emails, Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) requires consent, identification of the sender and a working unsubscribe mechanism. Mention your email practices in the policy.

Free hosting on a permanent link

A privacy policy only helps if people, and app reviewers, can open it. Legiflare hosts your policy on a clean, public URL that loads quickly on any phone. When your practices change, you edit the text and the link stays the same, so you never have to update your app store listings or website footer. There's no domain to buy and no hosting to maintain.

Privacy policy guides by platform

Each platform has its own rules about where the link goes and what the policy must say:

Frequently asked questions

Is the privacy policy generator really free?

Yes. Creating, editing and hosting your privacy policy on Legiflare is free, with no credit card required.

Will the policy be GDPR and CCPA compliant?

The template includes the sections these laws ask for. Compliance depends on your actual practices, so review every section and make sure it describes what your product really does.

Can I use the policy for my app and my website?

Yes. One hosted policy can cover your website, your iOS app and your Android app, as long as it describes all of them.

Can I edit the policy after publishing it?

Yes, at any time. The public URL doesn't change when you edit, so every place that links to it shows the latest version.

Can I keep a policy private while I work on it?

Yes. Uncheck "Public" when you save, and the link won't be accessible until you make it public.
